Just noticed that Glastonbury festival is on the same week , from the 24th to the 28th of June . As its only about 17 miles away I imagine that its going to be very busy locally . Do we envisage any problems ? Anybody living locally care to reassure me it will be OK

Regards ANDY

Having attended the festival on several occasions (my Minor broke down on the way home whilst covered in mud :-? ) I can vouch for the fact that the whole area is likely to be very congested for most of the weekend which will add quite a lot of time to most peoples travelling time to the rally.

On the plus side the club wanted to attract younger members so perhaps by swamping the area we can advertise the Minor to a whole new audience

Make sure you go to the site by using A303. Do not use A37 south out of Bristol and certainly avoid A361

That's useful to know. Can you remind us shortly before the rally please? :D

Don't like the sound of that. Members cars are, to a large extent, all part of the show are they not?

Other than that, whilst we have had a very good Website Rally there, I am not sure that there is enough to keep eveyone entertained for a weekend. Particularly those not interested in cars.

I am hoping that we can open the campsite on the Thursday, with a fun run on the Friday if enough interest is shown. The surrounding area has plenty of attractions, ie wookie hole, fleet air arm and the place where "To the Manor Born" was filmed which I think is now a theme park !

More information once the arrangements have been agreed with Haynes.

No response was received to my enquiry.

Doesn't Glastonbury translate as Rain???
Visiting local sites could be interesting with the extra traffic, I just hope the arrival and departure goes more smoothly than the last Donnington.
Anyway I'll be there with a sense of humour!! :)
Perhaps the rally team would appreciate some volunteer marshalls. Anybody??

Wookie Hole is near Cheddar Gorge, which also has caves. The Fleet Air Arm Museum is a good day out. Amongst other items there is a prototype of Concorde, which you walk through.. The theme park is Cricket St Thomas, aka Crinkley Bottom. It is a wildlife park.

If you go south to the A303 from the site, Fleet air is to the right as is cricket st thomas. Cheddar is the wrong side of Glastonbury , so it would probably be ok on the Saturday as people will be at the festival, but do not quote me
