He, i took out my ignition coil a wile back to clean it up . ow today i came to start it up, it started before. But today the starter moor just ran until it became flat i tryed using the choke but to no avail. I fear i may have wired it wrongly, there is noinfo on ths in the leyland manual So, can anyone exlain which wires go where on it?, or even better have a pictue on a wired up Inition coil. My car is a 1969 minor 1000.

Very simple -only two wires and the HT lead of course. It will start either way round. If the car is negative earth - the power wire goes to the +ve connection, and the other wire (which runs to the dizzy) goes on the -ve connection (may be marked CB = contact breaker).
Are you sure the coil is the reason for the non-start ? Did you hear the fuel pump ticking before you tried for the start ?

Yeah im sure its not the fuel pump since it worked finebefore, ill check the pump though. One last thing, there is a red cable connectng to my coil too. ANyway ill try swap the two greenishy ones over see i it works, probably wont have much luck though:(.

Hmm -well - non standard colours so it's all guesswork. Use a lamp or meter to find the power cable.

My coil "died" after a similar fit of coil-cleaning although I had connected it up the right way round. Turned out the brass rivet holding one of the tags onto the coil top was loose. A drop of solder sorted it, but it had me baffled at first!

Okay, had anoter go at starting it. No more look. Did a test on the sparkplugs by taking one out then conecting it to the HT so i could see if it sparked. No luck, no spark. So im sure its the coil ive wired wrongly. As far as i can see there are 2 whish wires, which connects to the connectors at each side of the coil. Can anyone explain where the wires go, or even better, does any one have a picture lucrking aound of one?.
Thanks,

There should be a white wire and a white & black wire. It does not matter which way you connect them as a "test" because you should get a spark either way round. If no spark then there is either a problem with the coil, rotor arm, points (check they have not welded shut) etc....

Hi, you may have to clean up the fuse box connections. I found my fuses were a bit dirty preventing mine from starting this weekend. After a bit of emory... bingo.
I think the wire to the coil goes through the fuse box...

If its not the coil, then why did it stop running after i removed it?

The white cable goes from the ignition fuse to the coil, the white / black cable goes from the coil to the distributor. If you have any other cables on the coil remove them then try again.
There is another white cable that runs from the same fuse to the fuel pump.
