how to strip paint

Post by RogerRust »

I have a patch of paint on the heater box for my MGB that won't come off I've tried a wire brush on my angle grinder to no avail and also soaked it in Nitromors overnight. but it won't come off.

Do I need to get it off to get a good finish when I repaint it? Or do you think a couple of coats of primer and some rubbing down will get an even finish?

As long as you flat it back and feather the edges so that you can't feel the transition between the metal and the old paint it won't show through a couple af layers of primer....

a layer or two of high build primer and a bit of sanding should cover :) it.

of course if your luck is anything like mine - nothing but the thinners in the paint you are currently spraying will strip and bubble the paint that's already on there
