I have always used the Coper S duplex type as it lasts virtually for ever . The small amount of work to fit one is saved by never having to change it again.
I believe it is fitted also to Metros and there are enough of those in scrapyards to yield a cheap set.

That sounds good. does the Cooper S one fit under the standard timing cover? don't they have some kind of rudimentary tensioner?

Lo, the metro chain needs the larger chain
cover and it uses a sprung loaded tensioner.
The kits available from the Minor specialists
should be a straightforward duplex chain and
gearwheels and uses the original cover.
The important bitis to ensure that the
sprockets are perfectly in-line (shims)

further to the above, if you do fit the type which needs the larger chain cover it is
fiddly because the timing marks are in a
different place and you have to remove two
bolts and replace with countersunk screws.
also the dynamo adjusting bracket fouls the
new cover and has to be modified. I would
suggest the "same cover" type.

Hi
Just a note; When fitting "Duplex" timing chain/wheels. you have to change the two lowest bolts to C/Sink, (fowls the timing wheel). To align the sprockets, use a steel ruler or straight edge across the sprockets. Adjust on the crank sprocket by shimming. (carefully remove key to fit shims).
NOTE; Check Timing marks are same as those removed. ( Duplex were fitted to many differing camshafts and the TDC/valve timing could be different.) There is a Vernier type Cam sprocket, but thats a little over the top? ....Ivor.....
