a bit naughty, and please don't shout at me as i know mine is a stinky early series II, not an MM, but i have just fitted three gauges in the dash centre panel and it looks great! very very happy! i will take some pics in the daylight but i have a 2 full face smiths gauges(vacuum and capillary temp) and a TIM rev counter in between them. i had to do a bit of bodgery on teh tim gauge so that it had a matching chrome bezel, but other then that, very happy!
Yay!

I did that to mine a long time ago (I know better now!) and fitted a vacuum gauge, an ammeter and a temperature gauge (in farenheit!) and probably like yours it looks like the space was made for it.
I do however feel a bit guilty about the destruction of a perfectly good centre panel!

Does this replace the original speedo, oil pressure and fuel gauge that sits in front of the driver?

that was the original idea
(retainng the speedo and other gauges in there) i have two of these and was going to add the missing holes for the others - cutting it down to match the shape of the original
but now im chaninging my mind to under the dash grill i think

After posting the photo of my modified dash I decided that the centre section looked a bit scruffy! The centre section that filled in the cut out casting was quite cracked (it was only wood!)
It has now been 're-modified' to show the remains of the original ally casting in relief and I think blends in much better with the existing dash. A bit retro, or whatever you call it.
The ignition panel and switch panel have also had the treatment.
I had the gold mixed by our local auto paint supplier in an aerosol and has been laquered.
Upon removing the starter pull I found the inner cable partially broken with loose strands in the outer casing! needless to say a new inner and it works much smoother.
The letters on the switch panel were applied with letraset and then laquered over, not perfectly positioned! as they are a devil of a job to get to 'look right'
Have a look

I did things the easy way, I just added a temp and amp gauge under the dash next to the steering column with switches with built in warning lights for rev., rear fog and boot lights on the other side of the column. The cigarette lighter is hidden under the dash. The wiper switch is a light switch with a W top for the electric washers and the trafficator switch operates the trafficators and indicators.
