How best to post a "B" post to USA!!
So, I've got a "B" post wrapped up to go to USA. 1m long weighs 18kg. Post Office quote £38.99 which made me gulp a bit. DHL-silly money. "Parcels-to-go" also silly money, and it seems couriers don't like car parts! Any bright ideas or is £38.99 really not so bad?

the length sounds as expected but I'm surprised it weighs 18kg! Either it's packed well or you got a bit more bodywork than you need.1m long weighs 18kg.

That MUST be wrong, thinking about it! I saw the weight on the scales, but didn't register it, not being metricated, but thats 40lb isn't it!! I'll get them to check that when I go back! However, as said ^^^ the lady did comment about the length of it (no-really madam!) as being a factor in the price.

it might be worth calling a parts supplier that you use regularly.
I used to work at one and occasionally we used to get asked by customers if we could get something collected from their address and shipped elsewhere.
I was going to suggest parcel force but someone else has. Either that or maybe try a fedex agent like "Express and global" who are based in bournemouth I think but they can get things collected from any UK address.
To keep the costs down ask for a sea freight qote not air freight.

I think you meant 'surface' rather than sea... unless they both live at a port ;-)sea freight qote not air freight.
