penny my pink 1969 moggy is out of jlh's garage and has just passed her M.O.T.!!! ive just drove a moggy for the first time taking it down to the testing garage and im still shaking it was utterly terrifying. somehow ive gotta get her from rugby to birmingham to get her new hood fitted asap she not waterproof yet, but the thought scares me. ive also just built a garage well i roped my dad brother and boyfriend into it aswell. its all go

Morris Minors aren't terrifying, just different. Adjust the seat so that you can reach the pedals and steering wheel without stretching and so that you feel comfortable, as well as can be expected, Minor seats are not the best in the world, and allow for things being a little more leisurely than in a modern car. Just drive it around the block a few times until you get used to the feel of it and then start to venture further afield. After a few journeys you will think modern cars feel strange.

Well done Vikki, great news. I'll ask around to see if I can find a mobile hood fitter, I'm sure Martin knows of one in this area

thanks jonathon that could be usefull, well just went out in her again to the petrol station and am getting used to it, but had to use my boyfriends astra that i normally drive and stalled it twice! as for moving the seats, there as far forwards and as high as i possible and got all new foam and covers and still cant see over the steering wheel and still cant reach the pedals very well, im just a short ass though i can live with that.

well done on passing the mot,as mike says go on some short trips get the feel of the car.remember to anticipate the road ahead,and brake early.keep yourself in a position where you are comftable on the road.moggies are great fun,you will soon learn there little querks.above all enjoy it .

You used to be able to get rubber blocks to put where the back "feet" rest on the floor.
I've seen a lump of wood (plank) used to lift the rear of the seat too.
Also there are two positions the seat can be bolted too, make sure it is in the forward position.
If you can see holes with thread in them in front of where the seat is bolted down then it can be bolted further forwards.

yeah i put the seats in the front hole this morning about fifteen minutes before the mot lol. rubber blocks at the back of the seat would be good, i'll have a looksie in my junk room and see what make-shift thing i can find and see if it can be painted pink lol.

I'm certain you can still get these. We bought some for youngest daughter to "tilt" the seat forward slightly.

I used a plank of wood under the back runners of the seat, trouble was the backrest was too upright. Best bet is to fit a pair of modern seats. I'm not going to start the discussion about which are best as that has been done extensively.

You should have used a shorter peice of wood Mike so that the wood didnt have to go over the transmission tunnel

The piece of wood in question was just long enough to fit between the sill and the transmission tunnel but it still didn't compensate for the knackered seat. Now fitted with a really comfortable pair of leather recliners. Still wasn't happy with the height so I fitted a 1in square section of alloy tube between the seat base and the runners. Spot on.

Vikki, Congrats on passing MOT-now relax and enjoy 'pinky'.You are in for the ride of your young life. I am much older than my 61 Minor and still enjoying every drive. All the best.
