There will obviously be a difference of opinion on this, but I'll start off with my thoughts on the matter - in no particular order. I'm sure by the end of the thread there will be some common ground

Are we going with appalling looks or just bad Cars. I'll try and differentiate.
Ford Scorpio (take a Granada and make the back look like a Sperm whale)
Austin Maestro (Ugly and grotty)
Austin Montego (same thing)
Allegro Saloon (I quite like the estate but the saloon has a seriously ugly bum)
Ford Edsel (Beaten with the ugly stick till it broke, then they got another stick)
Volvo 260 coupe (took a very boxy car and made it boxier)
Rover 200 ,The one with all the plastic bumpers that looks a bit 4x4(why?)
Fiat 600 Multipla (nice idea but body just looks mad)
Mini Clubman (the old one, I don't understand why they added that grille?)
Renault 20/30 (Boring Boring Boring)

I have to say - over the years I have had many many Vauxhalls - some as Company cars which as you all know can go twice as fast in every gear as a normal car - and NONE of them have ever given me the slightest bit of trouble -despite severe hammering . The Meriva I have now is an excellent every-day car. So - I think it is very unfair of 'cam' to suggest that all Vauxhalls are horrible - they very definitely are NOT!

1) Early Vectra - for making any other car look reliable
2) All BMW's - for inability to indicate, wait in a queue without jumping it, inability to use the inside lane despite people wanting to pass and for being overpriced for a low spec car.
3) Early Vectra
4) Most Mercedes - for pointless complexity, excess weight, pointless complexity, using a dumb extra foot pedal instead of a handbrake and for being much less reliable than people make out.
5) Early Vectra
6) Any VW in the last 20 years - for breaking down left right and centre despite some people thinking that they are reliable.
7) Early Vectra

Reanult Megane Scenic Diesel (for the noise, low speed, poor fuel economy and bad handling)
9) Early Vectra
10) 80's Fords due to extensive rot.

That's as maybe, but try driving one - shocking ride and handling, poor visibility, crap air con, and no power (2.7 version from Dollar). Worst car out of the 12 I've hired in the states - looks are deceiving - that's why I hired it
Here's my daughter posing with it in 2006;

Is it 'lay into every car I've ever owned' week, or something? Oh, feel free to ridicule the Citroen AX GT, but leave the Pug 309 alone

You can't seriously call the chevette a good car?? Diabolical engine problems "cured" by diabolical means, no positive aspects to the car that I can recall! But to follow it with that terrific car, the Astra- what a contrast!
Fiat Multipla- Fiat just don't seem to be able to do big cars!!
That Rover "streetwise" thing.
Talbot Horizon
Talbot Samara (The ruination of the beautiful but rattly early Alpine)
Talbot Tagora
Anything else with a Talbot badge!

On one trip to the States we hired a PT Cruiser (cabriolet) which is the worse car I have ever driven - visibility was truly awful and the rear window in my Morris is bigger!
We did about 5 miles and took it back, swapped it for a Neon - very tinny but better.

Oh yes, I remember renting (you ask to hire a car and they look blank) a Chevrolet Citation in the early 80's. Used to stall if you turned the steering too quick when parking. The Moggy would out accelerate it!!

The Austin Maxi was the best passion wagon ever made. It had a double bed that folded up to make seats if you had the misfortune to have to drive the thing.

Have to agree there, always have been a bit of a Vauxhall fan myself - even though I don't currently own one!
Worst cars for me are anything French or Japanese and the original VW Beetle - cannot stand them and that horrible noise they make

I used to love Vauxhalls (Nova, Cavalier etc... were very hard to break even with a lot of abuse) however my experience and family's problems with them too have changed my mind.

I have 2 Vauxhalls, a Mk2 Astra Estate (1987) which I use for work, which is great and touch wood I haven't had any problems, only a set of rear shoes and an exhaust back box.
I also have a Mk3 Cavalier 2 Litre Saloon (1990) which is mainly used for long distance trips (pampered) (France) which with its wide ratio gearbox gives fantastic cruising (2500 rpm @ 75 mph)
Have done almost 600 miles in one day - extremely comfortable with fuel consumption in the low 50's
I have never had less than 40 mpg since I have owned it!
I have only just changed the original back section of exhaust.
Find a rust free example, I would highly recommend!

Whats wrong with the Sunbeam then? I love those.
Cars I really dislike are the Ford KA and anything french
French car designers always seem to design things the wrong way round!
