Some of the pumps are earth sensitive and others not did you hear the pump ticking when you put it on, was it the same code on the new as on the old it should be AUD something, sounds like your old one had a dodgy diaphragm.

I have just looked on Burlens site and the 25 is for the 948cc and the 66 is for the 1098 but I dont know if it makes a difference however they are shown in both positive and negative versions. Does fuel still come out if you undo the fuel line to the carb. I recently fitted one I will see if I can find the box.

Right according to the instuctions only the pumps starting AZX are polarity concious, all those starting AUA,AUB & AUF are not.
If only a dribble is coming out that suggest the pump diaphragm is not all it should be, how does the output compare with the old one, I know that when replacing the diaphragm or if you have disturbed it there is a special sequence for refitting because if you just put it together it wont work properly, maybe someone on here knows the correct method for that.
I believe there is also a filter in the base as well.

Chris...re setting up the pump..the workshop manual gives
a thorough guide to this,it is quite involved but if done
correctly the pump should be reliable...mine has been
anyway. Suggest you get the manual to make your life easier.
