Its Volvo 244 shocks you need mark one escort estates one fit as well apparently but--------these are taken from one of my posts on the LCV site.
first one
This guy
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/jdsurplustuff has about half a dozen sets of Armstrong gas shocks for volvo 244s which when you swap over the bottom bush (dead easy to press out) will I,m assured will fit our vehicles about £20 +pp a pair way cheaper than specialist suppliers, I will et you know how easy they to fit after the weekend.
Followed by
Well the good news is that Volvo 244 shocks do fit Moggy vans, I had to use the minor bushes, slightly modified by grinding a bit off the rubber all round and the Minor inner sleeve for the top mount, The Armstrong shock bushes where dead easy to press out using sockets and a vice,
The ride seems a bit more solid now but I dont know if thats because the old shocks where shot or the new ones need a bit of driving to work properly, I,ve also Polybushed the rear of the springs as the old rubber ones had worn though, but as its monsoon season here at the moment I,ve only managed to do about five miles in the van.
They have I can report softened up a bit or I've got used to the ride!

Could you post the dims of these units please?
I have an aftermarket kit for a saloon which mounts to the existing brackets and I'd be interested to see if they are the same.

Yes, Mark one Escort Estate shocks do fit the LCV's.
I had a set of Avo adjustables on the back of my Pick-up before my plans changed and I sold them (to someone on here who might be along shortly with dimensions.................BG?

)
Cheers

Does any one have an original shock they can measure to give me the attributes.
Or
Does any one know a dealer that would give me the information?
Compressed length, extended length & Stroke if possible.
The reason I am asking is all the shocks people tell me will work on the Van have different attributes.
The compressed length, extended length & stroke are all different on each shock.
Example:
Volvo 244 - CL= 11.14, EL= 17.44, S= 6.3
KYB 344044 CL= 12.52, EL= 20.79, S= 8.27 - On two Vans in the San Francisco area using these
Monroe CL= 13.50, EL= 22 , S= Unknown - These came off my Van - Discontinued model
I would buy them from a UK dealer but the shipping to the USA would be more then the shocks.
As always Thank You for your time & help,
Vigil

Why not just jack the van up and measure the max extended length, then when on it's suspension measure the resting length - and work out how much more compression will be needed till the bump stops are hard on the limit. Add a bit to the max extension, take a bit off the minimum - and now you have the stroke, and can work out what spec dampers you really need !

Vigil and others who may like collecting information-----The original van/pickup rear shock absorbers measure from bush centre to bush centre 11inches closed, and 17 3/8ths inch fully stretched. or 279mm and 441mm.

Thank You for your post.
The information you posted would make the Volvo 244 a excellent match.
I have to believe Russ did his home work before trying them.
Today I see a shock on Ebay - he says It is correct for Morris Minor Van/Pick up - listed as 10 closed & 16 open.
listed at
http://www.ebay.com/itm/290998099640?ss ... _155wt_917
or 10/18/2013 - Item 290998099640
This makes me believe any thing close will be fine.
Thanks again for all your help,
Vigil

16 open is too short then - it means the suspension will 'hang' on the damper - which may over time damage the mountings - and/or the damper itself. Better get the correct item I think.

The reason i started looking at the dimentions was i knew that mine had been replaced.
It get pretty confusing when every one has a different size shock.
Thanks again for every ones help,

There is a particular order of assembly here, with the addition of an extra small spacer that is slid onto the bolt first. This spacer locates into the side of the mounting bracket that has the larger hole. It is an unusual arrangement, designed to stop the bracket crushing when the bolt is tightened. I've a feeling that a lot of lcvs are not assembled this way! If not using original shocks, the same care is needed to avoid the bracket crushing.
