Anyone Please know what type of carb is this one? Some sort of HS2 maybe?

lloks like aud 13 or aud 72 is there a tag still on it?

Could this carb be used with a 1098 engine?

It looks like as you said hs2 type should work ok on 1098 do you know what jet and neddle is in it

Yep, that is an HS2. The standard needle for a 1098 engine is an AN.

Confirm it's HS2 -but why has the suction port for the oil fume been plugged off ?

Maybe it is an earlier 1098 with the breather from the rocker box to the air filter or the breather pipe on the tappet chest cover

Far far better to use the suction port directly in to the carb - the breather to filter simply coats the paper filter - with oil - choking it uselessly in no time at all.
