Hello All,
My name is Steve and I've decided to join this forum based on my enjoyment of all MM. In the past I've owned a 1957 Morris Traveller, 1967 Morris Tourer and now have a chance to get a 1951 MM highlight 4 door Mist Green that needs lots of help. It's complete except for one split window trim piece on the drivers side that's missing, otherwise the Morris has most everything there so far. I have some apprehension due to the extreme amount of restoration that I must undertake such as boxing panel, floor edge, and floor replacement to due. My question is, will there be most body panels available for this Morris or will I have to search forever for parts?
I do think this Morris needs to be saved as there are not many left in North America. I will try to post pictures as soon as I start the restoration.
Current cars I now own:
1964 Austin Mk1 Mini Estate (tinnie)
1966 MG 1100 (wife's car)
1966 Mk1 Cortina GT
Thanks for any help in advance!
Cheers All,
Steve

Hi ADO16! (I had an Austin 1300 as my first car). Welcome to this Board. As far as the Morris is concerned go for it. Mist Green is quite a rare colour. Yes the panels are available through Morris Minor suppliers. Many are happy the ship parts to the USA. You might like to consider joining the Owner's Club as membership includes our bi-monthly mag which lists all the parts suppliers. If you have any more questions someones always around on this board to offer advice.

Welcome to Series MM ownership. In this country the 1951 model was a halfway model between the lowlight MMs and the highlight cars, having many features of the early cars such as the the short hood and cutaway inner wings but with the high headlights. In the USA you will have had the high headlights for a couple of years longer.
Many of the body parts are the same as the Minor 1000 so you should not have too much trouble with the structural work.
Most parts can be found with a bit of searching and occasionally parts are re manufactured. If you need specific items then email me and I will see what I can do. Unfortunately the trim around the windscreen is one of those parts which is in short supply, an inceasing number of Series MM / Series IIs have the trim missing.
If you log on to the Series MM website
http://seriesmm.mmoc.org.uk there is a lot of information which you may find useful.
Could you please email me the details of your car so that I can add it to the Series MM Register.

Thanks for the replies. It just helps me in the decision to go further with this project. So the windscreen trim surround will be a problem, does anyone just leave them off? Are the front wings or doors interchangeable with other series?
I will go ahead and email details to the Series MM register as soon as I can.
Again, thank you very much for all of your expertise I will be looking forward to the forum as time passes.
Regaligueen, did you like your Austin 1300 for your first car? We were fortunate to find this one (MG 1100) in Seattle, it had been in a barn outside of the city for 20 or so years, this makes our second one we've owned.

hello there and welcome, early mm 4 door very nice. the split window inserts are difficult to get hold of but 4 door doors are interchangable (though early mms doors differ from later 2 doors). Front wings you can chnage the only difference is the line on the front of 1000 wings shouldnt be there on an mm.

The Minor 1000 front wings will fit ok they just have to be fitted behind the larger MM grill panel and the short seam by the headlights needs to be filled in. The rear wing cutouts have to be re profiled to suit the larger wheel arch of the Series MM, or you good get lucky and find a pair of Heritage pattern wings ready shaped. One other point to watch is the position of the overiders on the front fender. They are further in than the M1000 overiders otherwise they would block the side lights. This means that the Series MM chrome bar has the holes drilled in a different place.

Hi, A car with character! Yes some bits are more difficult to get but later parts can be modified. My rear wings are later small arch ones modified to the larger radius, my front wings are later 1000 again modified as described around the grille and sidelight positions with the little seam leaded in.
There is a screen surround on ebay at the moment:-

which are due to finish shortly, I think this is the same as yours (to be!)
