Does anyone have a source for the door jambs on a traveler? The jamb on the left side of my car is totally rotted out and someone has tried to fix it by filling in the rotten areas with chicken wire and bondo with a skim coat of fiberglass. Once these offending materials were removed I found that the jamb is almost beyond repair. The small repair panels will not help in this case because the damage is far beyond the first 6 inches (which are completely gone).

A post or B post?

If its the B post, you can get a replacement for the base, I didn't bother and fabricated my own replacements - same for the A posts. Not that difficult to do.

If the windshield frame is the A post then it would be the B post located at the back of the door. The rust is not just relegated to the lower section where a patch panel could be utilized, it has spread north all the way past the door striker plate.

Now that is rusty !!! Prob easier to find one in a junk yard and cut it outta that...

Its not offten you find them rotten that far up so you could probably salvage a repairable B post from a scrap car. Cut it out with as much of the surounding metal as you can,this means you can take it home and carefully un stitch the bit you want.

This didn't look to bad until I removed the bondo, chicken wire and fiberglass that was holding it together. If I can't find a replacement I will have to fab a new one up....a task that scares me a little bit I must admit.<br><br>

I see what you mean - that is in a bad way, hopefully you will be able to source a good second hand replacement

Oh dear... Are there many travellers in junk yards out your way? Not having anything to compare, I'm ready to be shot down, but would that facing part be of the same section on all moggys? Thinking of cutting and shutting if secondhand travellers are scarce. If I were you I'd tackle that bit first before investigating much more of the car, or you could get really depressed at the pile of scrap you end up with! I guess you've already sorted out the front end Good luck!

The rest of the car is in a similar state and I have almost stripped her down to the last nut and bolt. The B pillar is made of two parts, the front which has the locking tabs mounted to it and which has the molded shape to it and the back which is simply a flat piece of steel. If I could get my hands on any pillar I could just replace the rotten contoured part and the rear flat and move on. Any of you have a parts car you could chop up for me?

I have had no luck with junkyards in the states, the majority have never even heard of a Morris Minor.

to take that on you're at least as daft as me!
I guess you'll be spending a lot on panels to start with. Over here it could be cheaper to find a Traveller with a half decent shell than to buy all the repair panels - however at least in your country they fetch a good price when finished.

As for the B post - the 2 door and traveller door is the same so the shaped part should be similar enough - therefore a donor section shouldn't be too hard to find. I've no idea what the postage cost from UK to USA would be though!
