Mini spi top end on 1098 - any views/experience?

Post by sowden »

Hi all,

Hope this is not a daft post.

Does a mini spi inlet / head / exhaust unit fit the 1098 and if so, does anyone have any views or experience on how it goes and whether there are any pitfalls?

I've already figured that you'd need modified distributor, ecu unit, sensors etc. and probably fuel pumps and filters to suit.

And any cost estimations would be useful!

Thanks gang, all the best to you all.

Yes, it can be done and has recently been done to an Austin A40 in Practicle Classics (Fuzz Townsends old car). You may be best trying to get a back issue or ask if someone here has a copy. Alternatively you can talk to these chaps http://www.jonspeed4minis.co.uk/

Most Mini Spi owners are deperately trying to convert their cars to carbs ! So - yes - the head will fit fine - just use it with a big single carb !
