Cheers.

I'll get those plates changed (once the car has her MOT)

Yes - black and silver are much more in keeping with the older cars although I think the yellow and white originally were introduced around 68/69 so some cars will have left the dealers with "modern" plates on....

I think this one has. I can't see any reason why they would have been changed as the car has done less than 20k in 38 years.

I'm in two minds about it, but at least I have the choice.

I find it kind of ironic in a way - when the yellow and white plates were first introduced I can imagine the desire to have them because they were "different" and "new" but now we want to change them all back to "old" style :-) Its always a tough choice Onne - fashion / looks / originality

I'll make my mind up over time :)

I would never own a classic car in black with new plates on though.. dread the thought :)

It has taken me quite some effort to achieve the black and white look on the front of my car

More than likely or they would not be allowed at all.

Going by the insurance quote I've been quoted they must think that I'll do the speed of sound everywhere.

Unfortunately, Yes and so do those plates you can buy which supposedly don't show up on cameras - They just manipulate the image until they can read it (usually in negative form) then they do you for speeding and illegal plates !!!!

get the car insured for 2 people or additionaql drivers and then they have to prove who was driving :D :D :D

and only about 45% of all speed cameras work :D :D

One of the car parks in portsmouth used to have a plate reader as it would print your reg on the ticket. If I went in with my minor it would just print question marks on it

I wonder if the silver on black plates work on these automatic numberplate cameras they have in some of the patrol cars - if they don't it might throw up an error.

The old plates look great on a black car - I also have a 1986 Manta GTE in black, would love to be able to fit the old plates on this but its too new :(

Switchover date Black/Silver to modern ones

Post by JB »

I am lead to believe, that the owner of the vehicle has to say who was driving, if the vehicle was done for speeding.
Otherwise the vehicle owner gets both barrels.
points & fine etc.

Also these days, speed cameras have very good imaging, and can see who was the culprit?

They work for all the cameras that are in use , so not a lot of point going along with thinking there might be a loophole

I am sure that owning the DAF will not cause any speeding offences.
It's actually slower than a Minor (but smoother)
