Hello all,

Yes, I know insurance :)

Has anyone got any experience with switching halfway down the year? (When for instance you sell the car)

I've found insurance for less than half what I'm paying now...

Confused.com actually works for classic cars!

Yes - well I tried it - all higher than I pay now and without roadside cover/recovery.. The highest was in excess of £8,000 !!
Try RH Onne !

I found a good one Roy, half of what I am paying now, but my policy is still running (until august)

Can't insure with RH yet. Wrong age bracket until July next year.

:) I'm still in the bracket without the VAT added :)

It's still expensive here though. I paid half the quoted 210 pounds per annum when I was 19 in Holland...
Surely there can't be more idiot drivers here than in densely populated Holland?

Holland having 396 people per square km opposed to the UK's 225

End of Rant, I still love it here! Best choice I've ever made

Just get in touch with your Insurance company. Some are more than ok with it and refund you the fraction of what you have left in the year. Others may refuse completely or charge an extortionate amount in cancellation fees. They are far more accommodating when you've sold a car but that's not to say they will be for a transfer. For instance, our experience of More Than is very good but Lancaster are not so happy about it.

Yes -I too have good expereince of More Than. But - challenge the renewal each year - they will give a bit more off 'for being a good customer' if pressed on the phone !

I'd feint if someone could find me fully comp insurance for half of what I am paying!

I'm with Footman James and it's around £98 per year, unlimited mileage, european recovery, windscreen cover etc...

I'm at three times that much! (I still think £298 is pretty good considering our age, but then the Land Rover was only around £50 more than that.)

Been in touch with my current insurer, and they won't charge me anything if I cancel now :)
