Should the turn signals on my '58 be self-canceling? ('Cause they're not!) Thanks.

On UK cars they didn't self cancel till March 59 - Not sure if USA spec cars were different. I would say that if you have the flashing green light on the end of the control then yes - otherwise, no.

I do have the flashing green knob on the end of the stick. So...if I read you right, it should be self-canceling, correct?

I've got the green light at the end of my indicator stalk but it isn't self-canceling. What is the mechanism for making it self-canceling? (also what is the wiring for the indicator to make the green light actually light up? I've had the stalk apart but not sure what to do.)

Yes, should be self cancelling. Someone has had the column control off in the past and not aligned the little peg into the stalk housing properly. Its a bit fiddly but doing it will restore self cancellation. Green light on stalk is fed from relay if I remember correctly and earthed through the column....
