Hi,
Where can I find the ID listings for my MM1000 so that I can check authenticity and original registration number?
The plate starts MAS5D*******
Cheers.

So far that tells us its a Morris, A Series Engine, 4 Door Saloon, 1098cc, Delux. The remaining part of your chassis number was originally stamped on the front bulkhead (left hand side as you look from the front) around where the big heater pipe goes into the car. Most of these have disappeared now though under years of underseal or repairs. There was also a tag on the left front tie bar where the bumper mount tube goes through the front panel - but these are even rarer!!!

The rest of the ID reads 1030987.
Does this give any further info?

It says that it was manufactured between 1962 and 1964 and would have originally had a Bronze (Gold) faced speedo and the dished 3 spoke steering wheel with large centre. Your indicators should also be controlled by the column switch with a flashing green end.

Thanks, sounds right. Registered 12/05/64. Indicators are the front side lights and rear stop. I think the original number plate has been retained by the previous owner, the plate now is suffix "B".

That was a Nuffield Metal Pressings plate, and AFAIK not a lot of use for anything much except ornament. As you say, most are long gone - underneath them is a favourite rust spot...

Plate could possible be correct depending on which region it was registered in. The DVLA will do a trace for you for a small fee and of course you can get a heritage certificate from the Heritage Centre at Gaydon....

Well I have always found them still there and its unusual to have underseal that far up the bulkhead and I have not had one that had repairs in that area either as it would be a scrapper if the bulkhead had gone in that area I would have thought, admittedly they are very difficult to see on lots of cars due to location and paint.

One of my cars has the number stamped on the cabin floor under the driver's feet instead of on the bulkhead.

I've wondered in the past if that tag on the tie-bar mount actually helped cause the corrosion there due to dis-similar metals !

i have numbers stamped in the floor by drivers feet, the front plate on the left hand side on the engine bay floor and the one on the bulkhead

Dunno, but it certainly does by trapping water
