Just received this from Ann Ford

60 ANNIVERSARY GRANDE PARADE, OXFORD
Sunday 30 November 2008

For those members wishing to follow the Grande Parade in Oxford, there is a change to the previously published route (due to a recent change in legislation by Oxford City). There is now NO ACCESS to the High Street - if you do go there, you will receive an automatic £80 penalty from their CCTV surveillance. Below is the revised route - which although slightly longer, will now pass William Morris' first garage, and then through a more scenic part of Oxford. I shall endeavour to hand out printed directions, on the day, but without knowing how many will be participating, this could be difficult.

exit the BMW MINI Plant by Gate 5, turning left and going down slip road taking the 4th exit at the roundabout (under fly-over).
Cowley Road. The Plain
Continue straight on over Magdalen Bridge,
Turn right into Longwall Street, then into St. Cross Street, then into South Parks Road.
Turn right into Parks Road, then turning left into Banbury Road.
Then into St. Giles' Street, turning right into Beaumont Street.
Turn left in to Worcester Street then enter Hythe Bridge Street.
Turn left at The Royal Oxford Hotel but then carry straight over into Hollybush Row, then turning right into Abingdon Road, and continuing on to The Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel.

For those of us that intend to follow the route in our Minors, will we be allowed through the security gates into the BMW plant to tag on to the back end of the official parade?

The bit on the home page says that everyone is welcome to follow the parade in their Minors so it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Rog
I've been to the BMW Plant several times and it can be difficult to get past security. I hope to give it a try anyway, if they turn me away I'll just turn around and may end up leading the parade
Are you in the parade?

Hi Leo

I'm not in or following the parade as my Minors are off the road at the moment but I will be there for the AGM.

Good turn out despite the rain and Oxford's disasterous traffic system. The parade was soon broken up by traffic lights and roundabouts.
Well done those who were brave enough to attend
