brakes

Just noticed this morning when reversing, if the brakes are applied, they suddenly grab after working smoothly for a few feet, and a definite "kick" can be felt through the pedal. Anyone any ideas as to the cause? (and the remedy?) Moving forwards when braking seems normal.
Thanks
Dom

Think it's just the rear brake shoe which is normally 'trailing' coming into action as a 'leading' shoe when moving backwards. Both front brake shoes are 'trailing' when reversing - so the available brake force is very much reduced when reversing!

Maybe I need to grease the cylinder again where it slides in backplate.

Well - always wise I suppose to make sure it is free to slide - but don't over-do the grease in case it finds it's way inside!
