Turned up bit on engine floor!

Hi all, Ok I now have some time to get back into the garage over the next few days I want to get this engine floor sorted out. if you have seen my other post I showed pictures of my newly installed nice and smooth! engine floor only to be told there needs to be a part of it Turned Up to clear the oil filter once the engine is back in! I have the measurements from a member so I can turn it up to the required length. However i was wondering if its possible to cut out a section and seam weld the floor to the chassis, would this work? Or is there another way of getting around the problem of the oil filter catching the floor. I'm trying to keep it kind of original so turning up might be the best way to go. Any Idear's or opinions, Thanks Croft.
