right, a bit of a long shot...does anyone know if you can fit the dolomite front disc to marina brakes? basically, does the dolomite caliper fit onto the marina caliper bracket? and also the disc to marina hub/dolomite hub fit the minor stub?
cheers!

i use the brake caliper from an MGB.Which fits the marina bracket and has twice the pad area.

I know spridget calipers would also be a straight swap for the marina caliper, but the piston dia. is different

You know new marina discs are avaliable from the suppliers? QH also made a batch a few months ago

No idea about the fitment of dolly hubs/discs though

yeah i know they're available, just i saw some fancy dolomite vented ones that are for sale in waterlooville, thought it could be interesting! but could just turn out to be a waste of money! just thought as PCD is the same, just a possibilty! but never mind!

the ones on ebay?

The hubs will probably fit if you have special bearings made - shouldnt be too expensive, BRT in Hilsea will do it

The discs look relatively shallow so I doubt they would foul the swivel

You may need to make a new caliper mounting, possibly spaced

of course! its the complete kit though, with hubs, calipers etc...pretty!

If you search the Brembo site http://www.brembo.com/ENG/Car-Brakes/ you can get full spec of all disc so can see what is and isn't interchangeable.
Doubt Dolomite disc will fit though as both that and Marina fit BEHIND the hub rather than over the wheel studs.

I meant - as they are - without having to mess about with special bearings!

I doubt it!

Marina hubs require special bearings (or a sleeve). I am trying to find out as we speak

All I can find out is the widths, not the hole dias.

ha, you aren't going to steal my idea are you matt??!! to be fair, you would be more likely to use them! i'm far to lazy to have to fabricate anything!

Nope I am making up some vented ford disks. Very easy actually, but it means I will be running ford PCD.

Redrill marina hubs to 4x108, using mundano vented rears and fiesta vented calipers all thats needed is the caliper mounting bracket :)

If it works I might be able to arrange a set of brackets for you and some redrilled disks...

That's interesting -i've got some good condition vented Ford calipers tucked away - left overs from a Mini disc conversion project! Do you have a drawing of the necessary bracket Matt?
Is it this one -
Image
No drawing yet BMC. If you want to keep minor PCD you would obviously need to get the discs redrilled every time. When I work it all out I will knock up a drawing in autocad. I could probably work it out if I had all the measurements to hand... but I dont

Funnily enough thats exactly why I have a pair of vented fiesta calipers! (i believe escort ones are the same)

Well that drawing is certainly for the Minor kingpin - just need to adjust the caliper bolt postion and maybe the spacing of the bolt holes to suit the caliper. The VW discs seem to slip over the Minor studs - just need a chamfer on the inner face of the bore to clear the chamfer on Minor hub.
