AGM Questions

As the thread 'AGM who is going' is now back on topic, if anyone has any points/questions they want raised at the AGM, here's your opportunity.

However rather than posting here, if you will send them to me in a PM together with your name and membership number, and remember time is getting short, I will try to get them submitted to the committee in time for the meeting.

There should be enough material in the "who's going" thread to keep you busy for a while.
Or else Apathy rules OK, or should that be in thought for the day?

Thanks Mike. I shall try to sort the wheat from the chaff, but sadly I think you could be right :(

Anyway I tried, and if anyone dares to complain afterwards ........

For those of you that may be interested, there are two positons on the national committee that are coming up for re-election, and they are National Rally chairman, and Interim Committee Member.

Will the membership get to vote on applicants - or just the existing Committee?

Members can propose and second any other member if that's what they want.

Incidentally the position of Secretary is also up for re-election.

Hmm - I'm sure you (or maybe it was someone else) said something like " the Committee 'interviewed and appointed' new Committee members". Is that so - or does it go to a vote of members attending the AGM ?

Please don't misunderstand, but I thnk you'll find that it wasn't me that said that, and rather than go through all of this discussion again, might I suggest that you read through the relative threads again for clarification. If you are still unclear, please send me a PM.

I assume you mean due for the end of the elected term rather than those folk are announcing they are standing down?

What I mean is, are those posts becoming vacant, or might the current people ask to continue?

It might sound confusing but I struggle with what I think I've heard by current members ...'if there are no objections, I'd like to continue.....' statement which I would find difficult to respond to if I wanted to experience one of these posts. It could sound like a complaint about the person.

Oh I know what I mean and didn't sleep much last night... :-?

For the record, although I'd like to do more for the club, I am not able to make that kind of commitment sadly.

So, if someone would like to be considered, should they speak up now and see if anyone wishes to nominate them etc. Or does it all happen on the day?

I do know a couple of people who have spoken about being involved and I wouldn't hesitate to nominate them but not as an insult to anyone currently in position.

Shall I stop now?

OK

Is there a job description available? What's an Interim Committee Member?

Only asking so folk can be sure they could be up to the tasks involved if they are interested.

To put it simply Squigsy, if there are no objections and/or proposals, then those already in those posts, will continue.

Proposals?

ie I propose Fred/Fredrika Blogs for position of tea-cake man/lady

At the meeting or before?

[Checking that the person in genuinely interested, of course].

PS Thanks for putting it simply

It seems that there are already some objections/proposals.

The club report states:

Directors: Ray Newell being the longest serving director retires by rotation and offers himself for re-election. Roger Taylor offers himself for election to the board.

So it doesn't look like Ray Newell's position of Secretary is up for re-election, just his directorship. As Roger Taylor appears to be applying for the same post there wil presumably have to be some sort of selection process to decide the best candidate.

Does anyone know who Roger Taylor is (apart from a member of Queen :-? )? He's not listed anywhere in Minor Matters.

I think there may be some misunderstanding here. Ray Newell's position of Club Secretary, as I understand it, is up for re-election. This position also carries a directorship. Likewise the position of Treasurer, for which Roger Taylor applied.

Perhaps the report needed to be worded better as there is no suggestion under the heading 'Committee posts' that any position other than Committee member and National Rally organiser are up for re-election.

That hadn't escaped my attention.

Please could someone post exactly what positions are available for re-election and what each position involves.

Need it put simply please :)

What is directorship?

And needing to check person is suitable suggests work to be done before the AGM.....

I'm puzzled and I've been asking this for some time.

I'm really sorry if this is all documented somewhere and I've missed it. Please just direct me to it if so and accept my apologies.

Thanks.

In my view this is something that the Club should do. The posts due for re-election are in the Report and Financial Statements, which as you know has only just been sent out, and too late for the 28 day deadline.

Please would someone on the committee respond.

Is it too late for anyone to consider applying for a position on the committee?

If no, what are the appropriate procedures?

If yes, then we can stop now. At least we will know.

Thanks

PS I haven't got a copy of the Report and Financial Statements and cannot download it at present. Won't accept the password. Will try again later as might just be an e-blip.

It's not the same position. As the newly appointed Treasurer, he is offering himself for election to the board in place of Ian Benn, who is standing down.
