I owned minors a few years ago (got my first when i was 15 and restored it with my dad) and have recently purchased a nice traveller as a second car, and to work on along with my kids.

My 10 year old daughter has laid claim to the car already she loves it,( or she loves the attention it gets)

Welcome aboard!! To avoid unwanted 'attention' - be sure to fit a secret switch in the supply wire to the fuel pump. Too many Minors getting stolen these days - make sure yours insn't one of them.

Welcome to the forum, Mark. I've had my Morris for five months now, I bought it for the same reason as you have.
My nine-year-old son and I are having great fun playing with our giant meccano set! I've been amazed that my teenage daughter and all her mates think it's cool to pose in it on my "Dad's taxi" runs - I was expecting a bad reaction!
Hope you have fun with your traveller. I've had a great response from other forumites to my newby questions.

Aaah yes, my 10 year old and her friends fight for spaces in the Traveller, its just the older two.....22 year old lad won't go in it because it's green(and hasn't got a designer label on it)!! Eldest daughter 24, just can't get a handle on it- completely outside her sphere of understanding!!

Thanks tingo, my son helps but not as mutch as my daughter (they are twins), all the kids at their school think the car is reallycool, and when my kids class went on a trip to RAF cosford they had a traveller there. They said all the other kids shouted "theres your dads car".
Although our car is in pretty good condition we are going to renew the wood next year, i already have the 2 sides just need to get the 2 new doors. I have done 2 travellers in the past,but that was 25 years ago so we will see just what i can remember.

It looks pretty good as it is! And I like the no over-rider look too, I would remove mine but the bumper behind is now not in best order!

The overiders were missing when i got it in August,the one rear pillar has had a small peice spliced in, it`s been done well but as we dont intend parting with it i will replace it all. It also has 2 fiberglass rear wings but i already have steel replacements to go on with the new wood. Underneath it is good, its had a couple of patches but they have been done well, and the rest is solid.
I have already done the rear diff and rear hub seals, and the next day the bottom pulley collapsed (some bright spark had masticked that onto the crank).
But all is fixed now and running well.

Having had the same reaction with my daughters quite a few years ago apart from the cute looks when delivering the girls to various events more notice was taken of them stepping out of a moggy (by the boys) rather than modern metal.

Morrises definitley have 'pulling power' ... I even once had a girl leave a note on my windscreen saying that she's 'seen me around' ... oddly I'd noticed her about too (curly strawberry blondes always get my attention) ... shame she turned out to be a bit of a nutter, but hey you cant win em all!

Same with my 10 year old. Have you discovered the maximum number of her friends that will fit in at one time Its the older two who aren't so keen. The boy won't go in it as its green and doesn't have any designer kitsch. The eldest girl just can't get a handle on it- totally outside her sphere of comprehension!!
