Hi again!
I'm now at the final stages of re-assembling everything back again hence my somewhat obscure doubts!
Can someone please tell me the following:
1-The front scuttle panels and the rear wheel arch covers were glued ditectly onto the metal panel or they had some kind of padding/sound deadning?
2-The parcel shelf metal bar was painted gloss black (pre- 1959 parcel shelfs, I mean...), right?
Thanks,
Pedro

Scuttle panels were screwed on and held in with the parcel shelf. Rear wheel arch covers probably have a thin piece of foam behind it to give it some padding. By thin I mean about 1/4"
If its a Minor 1000, the parcel shelf would have had padding round it, but Series 2 ones, were I think painted gold till the end of Series 2 production.

The rear wheel arch covers are partialy held on with 2 little toothed clips that clamp over the flange on the wheel arch. I think a screw at one end of the Triangle of vinyl also does part of the job. the foam on a 1970 was Very thin might even be less than 1/4" but as its really died on our old one I can't tell.

The above descriptions exactly describe the arrangement on mine - a self-tapping screw with a re-inforcing washer in the lower edge of the triangle, screwed into the bodywork, and the loose vinyl has a layer of thin foam (less than quarter of an inch IIRC) on my car this is stuck to th einner wheel arch, but may originally have been loose - it can't go anywhere!

origanally the foam was stuck to the rear inner wing
the front skuttle panel was held in parcel shelf and door seal, dont think it was screwed any where

Agree - mine isn't - it doesn't need it, eh?

Prob differnt on later cars - Series 2s have a line of three tiny chromed countersunk screws up the line of the door rubber. As you say, once the door rubber is on they're not really needed, so deleted on later cars...
