Due to a badly fitted drivers door on a 1969 2 door I would like to check for alignment. So does anyone have a list of measurements to enable me to check this. I could also do with a measurement across the car.

Mostly it's just a case of using the door as a 'gauge' Ian . Is this not possible ?

Trouble is Roy, that the front of the door is rubbing against the bottom of the gutter and the rear protrudes beyond the "B" post. Wanted to know where it was out so I now where to apply pressure.

Sounds like the hinge mountings need a twist! Is the door itself a known 'good' one ? It's hard to know where to take the measurements - and I can't remember if your car is a 4 door, or a 2 door same as my Traveller ?

Just had exactly the same problem with Lintilla. I eventually got it shutting again after hours spent messing with spacing washers but it's still not a brilliant fit.

Is there not a book with dimensions in?

Only what's shown in the BMC Manual - and they are not much use to you! Can you not compare sizes from the other side of the car Ian?

Not sure if that is correct. When I took car for MOT a few years ago, when tests became computerised, the tester asked me about the accident the car had been in. So am not sure about any measurements on car. Will have to get onto DVLC and enquire about how bad damage was. But how?

Hello mate. I tryed everything i could to keep my appertures the right shape. Seems to me with all these old cars doors were selected by selective assembly so a door from another car is unlikelly to fit yours and visa versa. So if they aint the origional doors they aint gonna fit.

All you can do is brace the apperture before you cut out the inner sill panels. When you come to fit the doors shim the hinges so you get an even gap with the front wing and then trim the back edge of the door to fit. I had to remove nearly 10mm from the bottom edges of my replacment doors and re-weld the edges. The old rotten doors fitted slightly better.
