i have to replace the gaiters on my steering rack. I have removed to track rod ends (and carefully noted the number of turns taken to remove them) and i am able to access the outer most end of the gaiters but i am at a loss as to how to get at the other end, closer to the centre of the car.
Has anybody got a simple method of getting attem' ?

Can only put the steering on full lock and then reach for them with long nose pliers etc. Easy enough to burst the old ones off - struggle comes to get new ones on properly. Hold the new ones on with tie-wraps.

the ones that are on there are fixed with worm screw type fixings. Are the cable ties the more modern option ?
I have considered taking out th steering rack but ive not done that before and not sure of the complexity.

It's not easy to wiggle out the rack - just burst or cut the worm screw fixings. Cable ties (wide ones if possible) are so much easier.

Extra hour ?? It will be dark - not much use. I would prefer them to leave the clock as is !

Yes I agree with that. I spotted a torn gaiter the day before the MOT. Cable ties are the way to go - sod concourse (sorry Judge). Use long ones, easier to get hold of with a pair of pliers and you can always cut off the excess.
