I have just fitted this to my pick up and was wondering if anyone knew what its original fitment might have been? The number is SN4419/00 and it is in MILES per hour before anyone says its KPH!

Mini was all i could think of that would have had a speedo the same size, but the "frame" is a Minor one as it fitted straight in.
I was wondering if anyone knew about the SN numbers and could tell the original fitnment from that?

Cooper S would be my guess too.

It could be cooper face & workings inside a minor housing. Thats something Ive done to mine but with a 100mph one

Could be from the limited edition GTI Minor, not generally known to have existed!

Cooper S speedos only ever went to 120 mph (thinking later about it - maybe 130 mph on the last cars) - and yes - they are worth plenty - I sold mine a while back! So this is a really special speedo - I have no idea what it's from, but not from any production Mini (or Minor!).

One thing that has always been possible is to change to outer ring.
The later KPH speedo's went to 140 KPH
the MPH indication is on the inner ring.

I was thinking that - just didn't want to burst the bubble.

The other possibility is that its an uprated period speedo as I am sure they were available from company's like Downton & Speedwell.

Whatever it came from, I reckon you should donate it to Superchargedfool:

Full marks to Onne - I think that will be the answer - whether done as a 'homer' or by Downton etc - who knows ! Bet it will fetch plenty on ebay!

Shall I delete my post then

?
FYI, if you ever intend to do this on a gold faced speedo, these only go up to 120...

Maybe, but it is not for sale as its the most accurate i have for the 5 speed with a 3.9 diff!
Maybe it is a homemade version from various speedo's (Kmh bits and Mph bits) but it does the job well!
I would REALLY love to know the original fitment or spec of the speedo with this SN number though as this should prove if its an original spec version or made up!
Anyone registered on a Mini forum that would be prepared to ask the question on the SN number for me please?
