bonnet release handle spring - which way round is yours?

OK you know how there's this long spring on the bonnet release handle, which hooks into the little petal-shaped tab on the bar?

Where does the other end of the spring hook into? The front panel, or the bulkhead? The one on my van hooked on to the front panel, but the one on Alex's saloon hooks into the bulkhead :-?

wibble 8)

And the trav too. :)

I think it's meant to be that way round so as to hold the linkage in tension and stop it rattling.

Actually, having just fitted mine, I couldn't see a suitable hole in the bulkhead, so I have hooked it into a little one on the inner wing - seems made for it 8)

Yes, pulling the rod forward in effect.

Mine goes forward, connects to the inner rad panel just as aupickup said .. interesting idea about puling it backwards to hold the linkage in tension though .. however given the amount of other noise my minor generates I doubt you'd be able to hear the bonnet linkage rattling :D
