Which Sprite engine are you considering? 948, 1098 or 1275?

All are possible and should fit quite easily to the Minor gearbox. The only thing I'm not sure about is the front engine mounts and the engine backplate, but you could always use the Minor items.

If you have changed an engine before then it should not be that much more labour intensive, just make sure everything lines up first!

Owen Burton`s book is useful as it describes most of what you need to do, and it is only really worth while doing with the 1275cc engine & box.
You can get a copy from
http://www.morris-minor.co.uk/p804.htm
Remember you will also need to upgrade the brakes etc as well or you may have insurance problems.

The Owen Burton book will give you enough of a general idea about the swap, but when reading the book don't take everything as gospel as some information given is incorrect. So excercise a bit of common sense as well and you should be fine!

As a rough guide you will require
a modified engine backplate
a modified flywheel
a modified timing cover
manifolds & carb to suit
maybe an exhaust system change
This assumes you are going for a 1275 as this is the one that will give a performance improvement, the 1098 is not worth the effort you may as well upgrade your own engine instead.
