Question about a swivel pin I have fitted.

Sorry guys more questions after a hard day in my garage!!!
I have 7" drums on my '53 series II and although the swivel pin fits the car, the hub shaft diameter is larger than the hole through the bearing in the drum. So my drum will not slide onto the shaft over the brake pads. I felt like crying when this happened.
A) Does this mean I have completely the wrong swivel pin, which I was told came off an old series II? Is it possible I have MM swivel pins on mine?
B) Can I simply replace the bearing in the drum and all will be fandango? Or is the geometry different?
C) Am I wasting my time and have to wait until the suppliers get any in?
I've tried the technical section but I can't find anything, thanks for your help.

If the swivel pins have a round boss above the steering arm they are off a M1000, if not then they are Series MM / early Series II.
You mentioned bearings in the brake drums therefore I am assuming that you have Series MM front drums and M1000 swivels. Your options are to either get Series MM swivels in good condition, difficult as they are in short supply, or convert your drums to fit M1000 swivels.
To do this visit the Series MM website, click on Technical Info and scroll down to Swivel Pin Modificaion. This will give you the instructions you need.

Mike the one I have bought has a round boss above the steering arm, the one I took off doesn't. I'll have a look at the web page you suggest.
Thanks for your help

As John Cleese once said " Another satisfied customer, should get him stuffed"

OK now I'm depressed again

. So I now have to get another new swivel pin and convert both my hubs. I originally thought I only needed to buy one!!
Anyone have a decent LH near side MM swivel pin!!!

If you get the correct king pins - you won't need to convert anything! Did the Club not have old style king pins recently?

Isn't it worth the membership fee to join the MMOC and have access to the club's facilities? Surely that is the point of joining a club.

may be he doesnt want to, not every one wants to join a club

i think the club pins are undersize ones

Question: Does Bryan ask to see members cards when selling parts at rallies to which non members have access?

If he has one, I'll join.

Give him a try. The club should have had a parts audit earlier in the year, so they will be on record.

The club have been brilliant, they do have MM swivel pins..... but only RH ones, I need a left.. DOH!!!
To get mine reconditioned through my local shop is £60, the club could have re-cut mine with undersides trunnions for the same price. So there you go.. at a price all is not lost. The later one I bought I will sell and get some cash towards the recon.

I didn't spot this thread! Your car definately has MM kingpins. They are still available NOS.
