5 speed to Ital spigot bearing

Post by PAULJ »

OK, the engine is built, fly wheel on, all set to fit the clutch and 5 speed box. I got the Birmingham spigot that goes on the flywheel. Now its a top hat shape, does the small end push in towards the engine or face out towards the gearbox. With it fitted do I need to remove the old spigot first or will the 5 speed shaft not reach that far  Any of that make sense? hopefully those that have fitted a 5 speed to an Ital will know what im talking about

Remove the old standard spigot bush, then fit the modified one so that the thinner bit fits in where the standard one went. You should find that it stays in place that way round, and falls out if you put it in the wrong way round.

The B'ham version uses a spigot in the flywheel. not the crank like the Minor, hence (I'm guessing) the question. Sorry, my kit is 100 miles away, so I can't look/elaborate further/help much :(
