Thanks, Elaine

Interesting Alex -I hadn't looked at their website for ages, although as a Compant they have been around probably even longer than me. And they do a repair kit for the Wolseley front cylinders AND - they list the new front wheel cylinders as being suitable for A40 Mk1 and II - in addition to W1500. So - it seems A40 front brakes - although 8" diam - do not use the same cylinders as the Minor 1000 8" front brakes.
So indeed 'elainemr' - this is a good place to get spares provided you have the larger Wolslely 1500 9" front brakes on your Minor.

Indeed I can - it must be down to different master cylinder sizes on the A40 I suppose. But more importantly - I now have a source for rebuild kits for my slightly leaking W cylinders - only thing is - do I convert the set with Minor cylinders back to W cylinders, or do I keep them for spares as they are!

If you refit Wolseley cylinders into the modified backplates they will be wobbling around in the big slots, relying on just the bolts for location.

Obviously - I would have to modify them back!

Suddenly my Ford Discs were a sensible choice.
I'll get my coat.

No - I still like the W drums - and wouldn't trade them for discs. but at the time I wanted to try the Minor cylinder mod - and it works very well. Now I have re-discovered Earl Part - and they now have bits for these cylinders (last time I looked they did not) - I will probably overhaul the W cylinders at least - and then possibly consider swapping them back into the backplates. Although - it's more likely I will just leave them be !
But in light of my experience I would now say just use the Wolsleley cylinders in these drums (now there is a good supplier to hand) and don't bother swapping to Minor cylinders!
