Hi all, well here we go, its raining, the wife and kids are away so I've got peace and quiet!! and I'm going to try and put some photos of my car for you all to have a look at!!
It was bought as a birthday present for me or the wifes way of saying Get out of the house and give me some peace!! Anyway it was bought of e-bay unseen!!!! the guy said he had done almost ALL of the welding!!!! only a couple of bits left to do!!<br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br>
Well so far I've spent most of my time welding in new parts,pannels etc and removing years of underseal. Still I'm really enjoying myself and cant wait to get it out and about next year. I've already got my eye on a two door for my next project then I fancy having a go at a pick up, Oh Yes the BUG has definatly got me!!!

nice work no one will know how much time and effort you have made to get the car restored but when there car is a new beer can and yours is just about ready for a little spruce up it is you that will have the last laugh

I really admire the people that go to this length to bring life back to an old car. You probably have most the forum eying up your swivel pins! . I'm eying up how clean your garage is, I'm constantly walking on tools!!!

Same with me, I would like to have a tidy garage but it never lasts.

i spent 12 hours tidying garadge putting tools away
and it takes me one hour to mess it up again

Same here - was going to wash the car, but natures doing that for me so a coffee break or two!

Thanks for your comments guys, garage is always that tidy, must be down to my years in the good old R.A.F everything had a place and it HAD to go there once you finished using it!!!!
I removed all the paint, underseal and stuff with a wire brush on the end of a drill. Make sure you dont stay to long in one place though as it can get hot an distort the metal.

Chassis led didnt look to bad but decided to replace it anyway, once I got a look at it with the engine floor removed I was pleased I had decided to renew it!<br><br>

Did you replace entire chassis legs or use the 32" repair sections?

Good work there, just in case, a point to remember (as I forgot when I did the same job!) you need to put a turn up on the tie plate flange so that it clears the oil filter.

Hmmm! I wondered why the old floor had a turned up bit on it! Is it really neccesary to turn this bit up? Surely it wasnt like this when they left the factory, Or where they?

Yes it is needed I'm affraid.... the floor will foul the oil filter which sticks out from the side of the engine.
