New Zealand moggie

Post by iddy »

My son has gone to New Zealand to work for 9 months, and has just bought a1961 minor (must be in the genes!).

I know a few people from NZ read and contribute to these chat boards, so here's a question: are there many part supplers in NZ (New Plymouth area) or is it cheaper to send lightweight parts from blighty?

The car seems to be in exceptional condition for the price (£700) with a genuine 70,000 miles and last owner for 40 years. My son is mumbling about bringing it back with him - any idea of the cost of doing so?

cheers,

iddy
First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

i have jad friends import cars from oz the and cost was roughly £1300. But then if your son is bringing back a car of which he has owned over there there might be less taxes to be paid.
cheers, michael.

one option - ship it to South Africa and drive up... Cost - priceless (lifechanging opportunity)

What's Morris minor city like? (or can you post link - I couldn't find a website). I get bits from a wrecker in Cambridge (in NZ not the real one :o ) or from ESM. Mind you I have also got a few to nick bits off

ive always gone through swift for engine parts and basis for body parts unless im importing from the UK.

theres a couple club members down here with a truck load of parts so i generally go through them, it ends up a lot cheaper when you swap parts
