End of Season Run

Tomorrow is the the Northern Irelands Clubs end of Season Run and we have over 40 booked for the event, we start off in Carryduff for breakfast and travel through County Down to the Mournes for picnic lunch and then on to Katesbrige for evening meal.

So fingers crossed for good weather

and hopefully I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

We had an excellent day out, even though it was wet most of the day. We started off with a big fry up in Woodlawn Garden centre and then travelled in convoy through Ballynahinch, then into the countryside to Spa, Castlewellan and onto Newcastle were we had picnic lunch in Donard carpark at the foot of the Mournes.

After lunch we headed into the Mournes and even on a day like this the scenery is amazing, you really dont appreciate what is on your doorstep!! We stopped off at Spelga Dam for to give the cars a break, I had to go into first in the lowlight about 4 times..... Spelga is pretty much the summit and on downhill from there to Hilltown, Rathfriland and finishing off in Katesbridge for 3 course dinner. It was the first time we had used The Anglers Rest, but we will definately be back!! Excellent grub and plenty of it

. We had our normal raffle and presentation of finsihers awards to every driver.

it was a great run, pity it wasnt today the weather was fantastic. ill have to get a few more snaps put on ut my camera doesnt like the website or the other way around or whatever.

Yes Judge were not fussy the more the merrier, even if they are in MGs

Though seriously, we are are happy to have more numbers as we can get better deals on meals when we approach the hotels and restaurants, it gives you more bargaining power! The whole cost of the day was £18.00 per person, for all that food and a finishers award that retails for about a tenner.

Hi Wibble! Yes its a really nice pick up, completely restored and the owner is almost finished another one. we also had Berts newly restored connaught green van looking really good, thankfully his magnetic signs stayed on this time as the last day he was out one disappeared on the motorway!.

*drools on keyboard* red is such a fabulous colour for LCVs. What shade is it, do you know?

I'm thinking of getting some magnetic signs like that made up for my van, to advertise Griff's company

Its Damask red and it does really suit the pick up.

Ive been told the magnetic signs arent always a great job and if you have the vehicle out in the rain that you must take them off and dry well behind them as theres always alot of damp behind them that has no were to go and would rust, but saying all that I think the van looks great with them on!!

The van I saw painted in that colour before was a deeper red, though, IIRC

I must admit it is a nice shade of red. Wonder how it would look on a Saloon...

You aren't allowed it on a saloon. It's an LCV colour. If you won't have a proper car you can't have a proper colour. So nyah.

How right you are (as always). You would have to be nuts to paint a Minor in a non-standard colour. ;)
