Was in the car shop yesterday and assistant stuck this leaflet in my hand about Nitrox Ceranic 7 additive. Apparently you put it in your oil and with the heat of the engine the ceramic stuff in it coats your bores and pistons. It is supposed to reduce wear, soot formation and emmision gases( not that that applies to us). It is made by Tetrosyl in Bury Website is "www. cares4cars.co.uk." Just wondered if anyone had heard of it or tried it?

Hi guys, im new to this forum but spotted this thread about Nitrox Ceramic 7.

Its brilliant stuff !! Iv used it in every car and bike iv owned for the past 3 years or so. It seems to quiet engines down and makes gear changes smoother. I have been struggling to buy it latley but iv found some one has started selling it again on Ebay.

I dont know whats in it or how it works but it does !! :D

How can it make gearchanges smoother. You put it in the engine not the gearbox??

I've found the same results from using decent oil - which is usually about 50% additive anyway!! I buy my oil/s based on performance specification not name or price.

If these magic additives gave a real benefit, they would be put in the oil as standard.

Utter nonsense
with the heat of the engine the ceramic stuff in it coats your bores and pistons
So it's liquid at engine temperature presumably, by what magic will it permanently coat anything?

Shamelessly pinched from the internet
"Conventional ceramics, including bricks and tiles, are well known for their ability to withstand high temperatures. Nonetheless, Fine Ceramics (also known as “advanced ceramics”) are more heat resistant than these materials by far. While aluminum begins to melt at approximately 660oC (approx. 1,220oF), alumina Fine Ceramics only begin to melt or decompose at temperatures above 2,000oC (approx. 3,632oF)."
