assuming that the vans have standard coloured wiring then,
Green/purple=stop lights
RED= tail lights
Green/red=LH flasher
Green/white=RH flasher.

mmm i have red, green/purple, and black. on the PS flasher. Think the trace is white on the green wire on the DS. Can't check now as am indoors :-? This doesn't seem to fit with your description :-?

the other light, the stop light, has a black wire and a green/red wire.

:-?

oh hang on, i'm being a bit thick, you have ignored the black wires, haven't you.

On the flashers, which wire goes to which bit of the lamp-holder?

do you mean which bullet goes into which loop of the holder?

Unless you are running LED lights it shouldn't make any difference.

I think you've mixed up the indicator wires and the brake light wires. The indicators only have a single filament so there are only two connections. I think the earth wire should go to whichever connector is attached to the baseplate.

With the brakelights, connect the earth to the baseplate again and take a guess with the other two. If you've got it wrong the bright filament will come on when you switch the sidelights on.

Oh! Okay! Seems a bit random - but very sensible - cheers. When I've established which should go where I will make a note!

And thanks, Dan, yes that was that I was meaning 8) and I have standard lamps, I hate the LED ones.

on standard back lights the earth wire is fixed on the bolt holding the rear of the back of the cargo bay
