Not a moggie a land rover

Been offered a really nice 1962 diesel landrover,Hes willing to do a straight swap for my moggie.But im so attached to dolly
Might have to turn down the swap.I wouldnt want to be without a moggie.

The Minor will be quicker, quieter and have better mpg...
So buy the Land Rover instead of swapping ;-)

aint got the cash
if i could i would.Well its a swb landrover my uncle had a lwb and it returned around 30 mpg.I know its very slugish but ive wanted one for a long time now.Just wish i had the money for both

Thats a tough one. I sold my 1960 Series 2 to buy one of the Moggies. I do miss the Landy but not the fuel bills....

was your series 2 a diesel? if so wht did u return mpg?

Yes - At best about 22 but usually more like 18-19. Had to run it hard to go anywhere at a reasonable pace and one of the noisyest places ever too.... But I still loved her

Series Landies are great fun, very reliable and a very handy little truck.
Ok, they are a bit heavy on the fuel but they are cheap to insure, easy to repair yourself and parts are cheap and easy to find.
I wouldn't be without one!

Seriously? my uncle had a lwb series 2 and it done about 30 mpg i think it was a 2.2 diesel ?

I've got two, a 1962 ex-RAF SWB diesel and a 1964 LWB Marshall Ambulance which is a petrol.
I've never got two pennies to rub together but can afford to run the Ambulance every day... My driving style must just suit it.
I wouldn't be without them now as they've taken the strain off the Traveller.
They do break occasionally but at least they're easy to fix, kinda like the moggy.
They're great fun! Go-on... you know you want to...

I've just sold my 109 - couldn't face driving it anymore as it was impossible to park in town. I can get a tow vehicle from work, and don't have time for offroading so it was pointless keeping it.
If I ever get one again it'll be an 88"
my previous 88" series 3 was a 2.25 diesel and only just managed 30mpg on long journeys and that had 3.5 diffs. It ran happily on 50% veg oil though. With standard gearing I'd expect 15 - 20 on mixed driving.

My 2.25 petrol 88" returned something like that. It really wasn't practical for the daily commute down the motorway to work, unlike my Minor.
