all my body panels are away being sodablasted at the moment and when they come back they will need primered immediately. i want to put a good rust protective primer on the base layer, then on top of that put 2-pot primer for for the final 2-pot red.
is this going to be compatable? the rust protection primer will most likely be wattyl killrust which i believe is mineral based.
ive gotta take all possible steps to make sure my baby lives a long and strong second life!!

It should state on the tin if it can take celly and or enamel based paint on top of the primer.
General rule of thumb is you can paint enamel on top of celly paint, but not the other way round. The thinners in celly softens the enamel and you get a reaction.
If by 2 pot you mean Two Pack, please be very careful, you need an air fed mask and proper full body suit, and proper workshop ventilation with extraction system, with filters to protect neighbors.

im not doing the 2 pack painting, its going to an ex painter who is now doing home jobs for that. he uses a commercial bake oven for all his work. ill have a chat to him tomorrow, he should have a definite idea on what rust protection paint i should use.

you can use nexa ( was ici ) fastbuild primer with 1335 thinners avliable in grey or white ,this is a one pack paint that has good anti corrosive properties that is designed for bare metal applications or you can add a hardner to make it a 2 pack primer, either way it can take celly, 2 pack or synthetic top coats
hope this helps dusty

i was always told that a etch primer was best on bear metal then if needed a barcoat to isolate other paint systems from reacting then you can put anything on top you like

Yes - it needs an etch primer on there right away after the blasting.

would it be ok to use etch primer followed by red oxide?
