Dear all,
I've just taken out the rear seats of my 1963 Traveller to give me more room in the back for longer loads and to give more rearward motion for the Fiesta seats that I've fitted for the driver and passenger. I'm going to fit a new floor to replace that was provided by the folded rear seat, but not wanting to be pioneer and always wanting to learn from others efforts, I wonder if any of you have done this before?
And as an extra, has anyone moved the spare wheel to under the bonnet and thereby gained extra height by lowering the floor? Regards, MikeN.

Definitely a thread somewhere about it- the main concern being putting an additional 25-30lbs weight high up at front. The wheel almost seems meant to fit in the underbonnet bracing, though! Some doubt also about flexing action on bonnet hinges. I keep meaning to investigate the practicality of hanging the wheel from the wing ledges rather than the bonnet struts as this would alleviate that concern. As regards weight I would suck it and see! I certainly like the idea of a lower load area.

Ah yes, I know about mounting the spare wheel under the bonnet.
However, I'm seeking advice on the practicalities of whether you can lower the floor after the spare's been removed from the back. And I'd like to see what anyone's done to restore floor after removing the rear seats. It doesn't seem too difficult, but I've found that whatever you think of doing, someone on this site has done it before - and its wise to see their efforts first! MikeN.
