Chrome Striker Plate 2 door /4 door

Does anyone know why the 2 door striker plate is different from the 4 door version?
I have a van and have been using the ones from a 2 door saloon.. i thought they were all the same until I needed to replace one and found they were different. It seems the 2 door ones are 'beefier', so possibly better.<br>
