Van Rear Springs

My van is not fitted with the rubber pads that are shown on the parts catalogue for the rear springs on the saloon....Should these pads be fitted to the van and what is their purpose?

The van has solid steel plates as opposed to the pressed steel and rubber pads of the saloon, I would think that the rubber is an attempt to eliminate any harshness.

thwaak - some have them some don't. Well that's how it seems to me. My very late pickup did not have any when I re-did that area in my Resto but since I have pulled other vehicles to bits and discovered that they do have them.
