The Beast Lives!

aupickup is a god.

after three and a half years in the back of my garage, the engine started up as good as gold. Bit of tweaking of the timing etc and it's running as smooth as a baby's smoothest bits.

Fitting the rad was a trick, as the rad panel had been repaired and didn't fit properly [cue hollow laugh, as in, which panels have fitted properly? ], but aupickup took a hammer to the panel and reshaped it so that it fitted! In true holden spirit, he started with a rubber hammer and then Used A Bigger One  8)

I learned all sorts of stuff, most of which I got laughed at for asking about, but fair play, we all have to learn somehow and I'm just incredibly lucky to have a patient, highly experienced and very knowledgeable teacher! :D

A very busy day, I ache all over, and may even have got my hands slightly dirty..... but The Beast Lives!!! :D :D :D

electrics next, and then brakes, and then the rest of the bodywork (rear doors, bonnet).... and then, trial runs around the drive before the MOT!!! 8)

thanks, guys, for sharing my jubilation! :D

The thing with pics of the whole thing is, it's under a cover, at the back of a garage. You can't actually see all that much yet! Might try and post one of the pics i took yesterday, a bit later today :)

thanks, kevin :)

Have updated my LiveJournal blog with an excruciatingly dull account of the afternoon's work, including a couple of pics. No doubt my write-up is full of errors, given my extreme beginner status!!

For a variety of valid personal reasons, you need to be a "friend" to view my LJ entries, so shout if you want me to add you.
