Just put a new heater control valve in, had the rocker cover off to access the nuts. When I took the valve off some water got by the valves it's taking for ever to evaporate. If I start the engine will water get sucked in?

Water wont get past the valves as it should pool below the height of the valve guides. It will probably seep down into the sump via the pushrod drillings, but even those sit a bit proud of the lowest point of the cylinder head. I would soak it up with paper towels, and be prepared to do an oil change if you get 'Mayo' oil in the rocker box.

Depends how good your valve stem seals are but its not good to have water in there anyway. Mop it up with some tissue first....

Well - if you think it is THAT much - take the spark plugs out and spin the engine over, then refit plugs and start it up. Take it for a good blast - that will soon evaporate any small amount of water.
