There is a Fast Ford day to be held this Sunday at Crail Raceway in Fife. I'll be there holding up the Minor tradition of thrashing all these rusty old Fords (just kidding - some of them are better than new).

I'd be happy to meet any members there, and give them a spin (hopefully only wheelspin) up the track - weather permitting (no point if It's wet).

Pete

No, it does 14.9's at 92 - maybe got a 14.5 in it. Still, that's reasonably quick for a standard 3.9 (faster than most of the Fords though :D ).
My chevy engined one (if I get my motivation back :D ) should be in the low 12's.
I'll post times (if they are respectable)

Was down nice and early, signed on and went in the SMALL queue. Lined up against something normal - ish, and left the line just fine. Over revved it in 2nd, and it popped the fan belt - still beat the guy though.
Went back to the pits and popped the belt back on, then went for another run while queue was still short. It was still a bit hot and bogged on the line with fuel vapourisation, and again got very hot (should have left it to cool down for longer). Pits again, to find water pump had blown it's seal (joke there somewhere) and sprayed the engine bay with anti freeze etc . Came away early and nursed it back stopping at every junction, light etc and made it home (just).
New pump now required - hope I've not blown the head gaskets (don't think so though).
It was turning out to be a good day - plenty fast stuff (low 11's), and some nice hot rods.
Unfortunately, my camera also expired, so what's the 3rd thing to go wrong?
Pump now off, gasket removed - just have to get a new pump now.

Hey Pete,

I think you've been conservative on 12's for your LS as a few small changes your'll be in the 10's I think,

James, I actually got a 15.1 as I cruised over the line, so was on for a 14.5 I'm sure. Pump now replaced, and no harm done.
There was a MK 2 Consul with a small block chevy doing mid 12's, plus I met a mate who has a well tweaked willys pick up who does easy 11's. He had been to the pod with 2 other guys I know with rods who were in the 11's and 12's - so he's promised to come to Crail for the next fast Ford day.
Wouldn't mind getting into the 11's, but running a 12 is pretty quick - specially in a Minor.
