hi all, many thanks for the kind comments. i sprayed her myself, in my garage and i used red oxide as the first coat followed by grey fastbuild primer then 4 coats of top coat ah yes two pack 5 liters unmixed . will post a picci when its back on the road

Nice work there. I sprayed mine a couple of weekends ago, its a great feeling when the new paint goes on.

Hmm, add a bit of white and black and you'd probably end up with 5L of clarendon grey - more than enough for a nice thick coat on a certain convertible.i have 2.5 l left over enuff to do another lol

I sincerely hope you have proper air-fed breathing apparatus - this is absolutely essential if spraying '2 pack' paint. It is NOT recommended for home use because it is so dangerous to health!

I agree, it can even get into the blood through skin and hair so a proper spraying suit is also required. V difficult to repair if damaged -and yes it sometimes has an unfortunate 'false shine' to the finish.
And seriously - HSE are clamping down HARD on this stuff - I believe it's not allowed for commercial use now either.

Not so BM regarding repairs, also 'out of the gun' the finish is very shiney but if colour sanded and mopped or just even machine polished then this knocks the shine back a bit.
It is still legal with the correct facilities to spray 2K whilst stocks last, in theory around 2 years , but it is still legal to import the stuff from Europe where it has not been outlawed, so it might seem to offer indefinate supplies to some of the paintshops who find the move to water based as another huge expense at a time when the trade is experiencing a huge drop off in work, and many bodyshops (even some large commercial repairers) going out of business.
If you are carefull and use the correct facilities the 2K does not pose a danger to the sprayer nor the surrounding area. Abuse the rules and yes , you deserve the consequences.
