Gear reduction starters for MM

Post by ron77 »

Are these available for the Morris - anyone had experience with them on the car? Or is it overkill (and I am too lazy to crank it!)
I'm in London; car in Massachusetts (summer use only!)

They are available for high powered Mini engines - but not sure about Minors - the later Mini has a different flywheel ring gear to take the pre-engaged starter with front entry - whereas Minors have rear entry ring gears. Really -with a good battery and a good condition starter motor - you don't need gear reduction!

I used to have a 24 volt starting arrangement on my old Landy - that made the starter whirr even on the coldest mornings!
