Having just finished writing our branch report for Minor Matters it occurred to me - are we an official Website branch yet? Can we send in a report to the mag detailing web rallies and suchlike?
Cheers,

Do we really want to be an official branch?
It'd mean we'd have to have a "committee" and then you know how it is... power corrupts and all that... they'd cling to power against all odd for too long, finding new ways to resist change and progress, and the young blood would get put off or just start their own rival group etc etc...
Ahem sorry, got carried away there!
I don't think it's such a bad thing to be a branch, as long as there are provisions put in place to keep a constant stream of new blood and fresh ideas coming through.

Can't we just stay the "Travelling" branch - excuse the pun, roaming the countryside looking for a place to boil the kettle! Far more fun

I just thought it might be a good way to link up with the 'magazine' aspect of the club and maybe reduce the 'us and them' aspect which has been felt - also a possible way of getting more club members online?

In that case why dont we just submit a report to Branch News headed the Website and see if it gets printed? Email the Ed of MM and ask his thoughts hes always open to new ideas.

My own personal feeling is that a committee is totally unnecessary. At present we are an autonomous group that has worked successfully together for a considerable period of time without any issues. In my opinion to introduce a committee, and therefore establish a hierarchy, would possibly cause division, resulting in a fragmentation of the group, and finally its demise.

Wasn't suggesting a committee per se - more a liason with the magazine to publicise our events
