The chassis number suggests this was, originally at least, a Black 4 Door Saloon, Right Hand Drive UK Market model painted with synthetic. It would of had maroon seats and carpets, and is a Series 2 model fitted with 803 cc A series engine..... Of course much of this could have changed over the years... Hope this helps?

Another random fact, that number plate isn't the original one. The original one was probably sold as a private plate and the car has been given a new age related one.

When did Semaphore?? indicators stop being put on this vehicle? and would you advise cranking the engine (with handle) over before trying to start it, the oil on dipstick looks like new and rocker cover off shows no sign of white deposits!! ta.
Garage now has corner thats clear to except car for winter, rool on dark nights.

If i remember rightly semaphores were stopped in october 1961, the cars were then given flashing sidelights and brake lights. Proper flashing indicators were fitted as of october 1963

Kevin ?! No I flippin am not that would be grounds for divorce, the garage is definatley a PC free zone, I have even thrown out the radio in the hope that one day I will get a proper wireless (our signals come via microwaves to the Island)
Cheers Sydney'61, Thats another job for the list.

Oil will always look 'new' if it's been standing for ages - the grot sinks to the bottom of the sump. Yes - crank it with the handle to make sure it's not 'stuck' in any way, and pour a little oil down the bores firts too, then - crank it over on the starter (plugs out) until the oil pressure light goes out - and then keep going for another 5 seconds or so to put oil round the engine. Then - start it!

Not if its being used regularly. If its been stood for a length of time it might not be a bad idea to get some oils on the bearings etc
